New concepts to secure the diversity of ecosystems in BSR emphasise a larger-scale management together with a regional approach. The set-up of the PARKS & BENEFITS partnership is reflecting this. The partner network consists of 18 partners from 6 different Baltic Sea Region (BSR) countries.

It is built by large protected areas across the BSR (Natura 2000 areas managed as National Parks, Biosphere Reserves or Nature Parks) each partnering with the respective national and regional authorities as well as tourism organisations and local/regional small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs). As strategic partners the EUROPARC Federation, the Association for sustainable mobility (VCD) in Germany with European umbrella organisation and two universities, Roskilde- DK and Greifswald- DE,  support the partnership with their expertise. This way a triple helix approach in creating innovative solutions for common problems is secured. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Consumer Protection of Mecklenburg Vorpommern- DE acts as lead partner.

Associated partners. Law and administration structures in environment protection vary from country to country. For this reason the regional partner networks are differently structured. Every protected area involves the respective regional partners that are essential for the implementation of the project activities. Some of these partners contribute as associated partners to the project objectives.
